Who is Giacomo della Porta?
Born in 1540 Porlezza - died in 1604 Rome
Italian sculptor and architect. He worked with Michelangelo Buonarroti and they led the reconstruction of St. Peter's Basilica after 1573. After, with Domenico Fontana, finished the dome of the basilica. At the same time, after the death of his master Jacopo da Barozziego Vignoli, supervised the construction of the Church of the Gesu, the main example of the baroque church, designed its façade and giving it a unique look.
