Arabic Bridge On The Genil
Arabic Bridge On The Genil is located in Granada, on the river Genil, at the confluence of the River Darro. The bridge was built in the mid-twelfth century. Also known as the Roman Bridge (Puente Romano). In 2007 was declared National Heritage. It is a bridge of five barrel vaults (span of 7 m) with strong stone embankments. The vaults are built of brick according to the reconstruction project led by Jose Antonio Fernandez Ordonez in the 80's.
For a long time served city traffic until its reconstruction and building a modern parallel bridge (called Puente del Cristo de la Expiración or colloquially Blanco - White). Some authors presume that the construction was done on the remains of the earlier Romanesque bridge.
