Głowa Barcelony
Barcelona's Head is a sculpture located in Barcelona and created by American pop-art painter Roy Lichtenstein.
The execution of the work was done by Diego Delgado Rajado in 1991 and 1992 for arrival in the city of Barcelona Summer Olympics in 1992. The work reflect the profound changes experienced by the coastal area of the city before the Olympics. In those years, the city was changing dramatically in infrastructure and urban design to receive the Olympic Games.
The sculpture is located in Paseo Colón, opposite the Post Office building and near the huge statue of Javier Mariscal, 'The Shrimp'. Clearly visible thanks to its 15 meters high and 6 meters wide and its colorful ceramics. The work was conducted with concrete, stainless steel staples and a ceramic coating.
It belongs to a series of faces called Brushstrokes. The colors used, blue, yellow and red, evoke the works of the famous painter and sculptor Joan Miró.
