Disneyland Paris
The Disneyland Paris is a recreation complex in Marne-la-Vallée, situated in the eastern suburbs of Paris. The resort is located 32 kilometres from the centre of Paris and most of its area belongs to the commune of Chessy.
Disneyland Paris encompasses 1900 hectares and consists of two theme parks, a retail park, dining and entertainment districts, as well as seven resort hotels, seven associated hotels, a golf course, a railway station and a new town called Val d'Europe. Its inauguration took place on 12 April 1992, making it the second Disney resort to open outside the United States (after Tokyo Disney Resort).
Originally, the resort was named Euro Disney Resort but was renamed Disneyland Paris in 1994. In 2002, a second theme park, called Walt Disney Studios Park, was opened to the public.
Today, the park is Europe's most visited tourist site and a place most beloved by children. In 2009, Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park were visited by over 15 million people.
