Casa de les Punxes

'Casa de les Punxes' also known as the home of Terrades, is a modernism building designed by catalan architect Joseph'a Puig i Cadafalch, located at the intersection of street Diagonal an Rosello.

This house was built in 1905, when sisters Terrades wanted to join three buildings belonging to them, which were in the same block in one common property. It has an unique design in which character composed architecture of the building which replicates medieval castle and the characteristic end of six cone-shaped towers, which are terminated with needless or spikes. The building is architecturally diverse, some elements are from European Gothic and others are from medieval times, which are perfectly combined with elements from time of modernism.

The facade is built of brick, on which are placed decorative mosaics made of ceramics tiles and decorated with tiles made of wrought iron.

Images created from ceramics tiles are a great ornament of the building, to the most spectacular belongs the sundial, the image of Sant George and other patriotic elements and motives.

House is not open to the publis, because it is private property,where the rooms were transformate into various offices and private apartments. Despite this the building is worth to see from the outside and if it's possible from inside, because his style is perfect in beauty.

The building was declared as Cultural Heritage in 1976.
