Hans Scharoun - biography
Who is Hans Scharoun?
Born in 1893-09-20 Bremen - died in 1972-11-25 Berlin
German architect, one of the main representants of organic architecture. He is best know for the design of the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall in Berlin. His project replaced previous Philharmonic that was destroyed in World War II. His design can be characterised as organic and futuristic. As a proponent of organic architecture, in the process of designing he was looking for inspiration in nature (an architecture mimics living organisms) and he was following the idea that the form should be determined by the function and natural surrounding.
