Who is Alfred Messel?
Born in 1853-07-22 Darmstadt - died in 1909-04-24 Berlin
One of the most well-known German architects, creating at the turning point to 20th century. He created new style for buildings, being an transition between historicism and modernism. In his creations he managed to combine the structure, decoration and function of buildings. His most famous works are the Wertheim department stores and the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.
