Olimpic and Sports Museum

The Olympic and Sports Museum of Barcelona is located in the building which was remodel by the architects: Lluís Samaranch i Ricard Sans and was opened to present the reality of 1992 Summer Olympic Games as well as promote the Olympic ideals. The building is situated on the Montjuic mountain, near the Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys in the Anilla Olímpica which spreads over an area of 1,500 square meters. The exhibitions in the museum tell a vivid story of the Olympics in Barcelona through numerous photographs, videos and other materials. The museum was opened in 2004 under its current name in honour of Joan Antoni Samaranch, the seventh President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 1980 to 2001.
