Mirador de l'Alcalde
El Mirador del Alcalde is a scenic overlook in Barcelona which offers a magnificent view over the mountain of Montjuïc. It is located near the Plaza de la Sardana and the Montjuïc Castle.
The place was created in 1969 and has four levels. In its centre, there is a fountain designed by Carles Buigas, the same architect and engineer who designed the famous Magic Fountain for the 1929 Universal Exhibition in Barcelona. One of the distinctive features of this place is a mosaic pavement covering an area of 420 square metres made up of iron, ceramics and glass elements. It was created by the illustrator and painter Joan Josep Tharrats.
Near the overlook, you will find picturesque gardens with exotic trees surrounded by flowerbeds.
