Catalonia History Museum
The Catalonia History Museum is a museum located in the Palau de Mar in the district of Ciutat Vella and is one of the attractions of the Port Vell. The building of the museum was built in years 1880-1890 in a style characteristic of the 19th century port architecture. Originally it functioned as a general trading store and its main role was to receive and store goods arriving by sea. Today it houses the Catalonia History Museum. The museum holds both permanent and temporary collections of items related to the history of the Catalan nation, demonstrating and disseminating the cultural heritage of Catalonia. The exhibitions present the roots of the Catalan nation, the formation of the Catalan counties, the golden age of the Crown of Aragon, the vicious times of wars, like the War of Spanish Succession or the Reapers' War, as well as the modern times.
