Palazzo Venier dei Leoni
Palazzo Venier dei Leoni - a palace in Venice, Italy, designed by Lorenzo Boschetti.
Its construction was started by the Venier family in 1794, but because of their financial problems it has never been finished. The name of the building derives not only from the family name but also from lion stone statues at the entrance to the palace. Right next to the palace there is one of very few gardens in Venice.
In 1949, the Palazzo was bought by an american art colletor and a Venice-lover, Peggy Guggenheim. Today, in the Palace there is her collection - owned by the Salomon Guggenheim Foundation - exhibited. The museum displays works of American and European modern art, e.g. Picasso, Dali, Magritte, Brancusi and Pollock.
