Columna de Lur
The Lure Players (also: the Lure Blowers; Lurblæserne) is a monument on the City Hall Square in Copenhagen, right next to the City Hall. It depicts two lurblæsere on the top of a column. The two statues are made of bronze, while the column is made of brick. The total height is approx. 20 meters.
It was built between 1911-1914 by Anton Rosen (the column itself) and Siegfried Wagner (Lure Players). It was commissioned by the Carlsberg Foundation and the Ny Carlsberg Foundation to become a gift to the City of Copenhagen in the commemoration of the hundreth anniversary of the birth Jacob Christian Jacobsen.
The Lure Players reportedly are to blow their horns when a virgin passes them.
