Donetsk (Донецьк) - a city in eastern Ukraine, on the river Kalmius. The capital of Donetsk circuit. The main industrial center in the Donetsk Coal Basin.The city has 981 017 inhabitants (2010), agglomeration has 1 566 000 inhabitants (2004). It is the fourth largest city in Ukraine. The city has an industrial character. Along with neighboring urban centers creates the conurbation.
Most of the inhabitants of regions of Donetsk is a Ukrainian whose first language is Russian, or Russian.
Donetsk is one of the four Ukrainian cities where matches will be played, organized jointly with the Polish UEFA EURO 2012.
