Castillo Satzvey

Satzvey Castle (Burg Satzvey) is a tipical medieval water castle built in the twelfth century, which is located on the north-eastern edge of the Eifel mountains in Mechernich (district Satzvey) in Euskirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany). Among the experts, is considered the best preserved water castle in North Rhine-Westphalia, jewel of the castle architecture, a monument of aristocratic culture and way of life.

Satzvey is a typical castle built in the lowlands. Due to the absence of natural protection in the form of the mountain, water is used to protect it from enemies. Today, the castle is open to the public.
