Tramvia Blau

The Tram Blau (Blue Tram in Castilian) is a tram that runs in this colour in the upper part of Barcelona. Its route runs from the John F. Kennedy Plaza in the neighborhood of Sant Gervasi, which is the last stop on the subway line 7 to the cable car which goes to the top of Tibidabo (Funicular del Tibidabo).

The tram line was opened in 1901 under the leadership of Dr Andreu, famous in Barcelona because of the invention particular cough pills, which are used also nowadays. He collaborated with engineer Santiago Rubio y Taduri. The useful of the tram increased after the Tibidabo Amusement Park was created on the top of the hill. Over the years, the tram has undergone several repairs but because today mainly works as a tourist attraction, therefore runs with a maximum speed of 14 km/h.

Before creating in Barcelona a modern tram line (Trambesós Trambaix) in 2004, Blau Tram was the only such means of transport in the city after 60s of the last century, when they were replaced by buses.
