Scientific Society in Torun (TNT) - an organization founded in 1875 for the development of science and culture. Initially, during the period of partition, was used primarily on studying and documenting Polishness of Pomeranian land. In 1881, the Company issued a competition for the "Description of the city of Torun ', which should have contained information about the foundation and the city's history, local lores. An important part of the work was to create a list of all Polish institutions operating in the city that contains data about their history and activities.
