Thermal Power Station in Sant Adrià del Besós

The Thermal Power Station in Sant Adrià del Besós, best known as the 'three chimneys' and even the 'Sagrada Familia of Sant Adrià', was a thermoelectric plant located near the river Besòs in the Mediterranean Sea, between the municipalities of Sant Adrià de Besós and Badalona, in the province of Barcelona.

The plant was built between 1970 and 1976 by Copisa and the owner is Fecsa-Endesa. Its activity stopped in 2011, and after a referendum made in the municipality of Sant Adrià, the city council and its citizens decided to keep up the plant. Nowadays there's still no idea about the  future use of the installations but many people suggest that it would be necessary redesign the towers as social facilities.

The plant is an icon of the 70s and despite its bad reputation due the pollution, the towers were gained popularity as a silouette of the skyline of Barcelona.
