Port Aventura

PortAventura ( [ˌpɔrtəβənˈtuɾə] ) is a theme park and a resort in Salou, Spain, on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast), approximately an hour drive south of Barcelona.

It attracts around 3 million visitors per year making it the most visited theme park in Spain. PortAventura Park is also the 6th most visited theme park in Europe. The resort also includes PortAventura Aquatic Park and four hotels. It is the biggest resort in the south of Europe. It has 2 airports within 30 minutes of it, including Reus Airport . There is a train station for PortAventura which has connections to Barcelona and Salou.

The complex consists of several hotels, a theme park, water park, golf courses, a beach club, a convention center and other projects underway.  It has been in constant evolution since its inception, especially since investors have changed over time, however the focus has always been that of a space for leisure and catering for all ages. The resort is specially close to all tourist resorts of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast in Spanish) with high occupancy towns such as Salou.

The amusement park opened on 1995 and consisted of five areas: Mediterranean, Polynesia, China, Mexico and Far West. One of its star attractions during its inauguration andtoday still breaking audience records was 'Dragon Kahn', a monumental roller coaster designed by Bolliger & Mabillard

Stampida premiered in 1997 (Custom Coaster Inc), a wooden roller coaster two-lane (red and blue) of about 950 m long and 28 m high, which run parallel most of route (racer), but that split in half, crossing from the front (dueling), and eventually run parallel to the station. It was opened in the Far West area shortly thereafter.

In the year 2005 premiered Hurakan Condor, an attraction multi-drop freefall located in the area of ​​Mexico.

On April 8, 2011 season starts and it opens to the public the new playground 'SesamoAventura'. So nowadays the park consist of 6 areas: Mediterranean, Polynesia, China, Mexico, Far West and SésamoAventura.
