Old Customs Building of the Port
The Old Customs Building of the Port of Barcelona is a building located in front of the shipyards in the Raval district of Barcelona. J ust in front of the old port of goods, the Port Vell. Nowadays is a tourist area and because of the population growth, the main functions of the building were moved to the new port around Zona Franca de Barcelona.
The building, designed by architect Enric Sagnier i Villavechia between 1896 and 1902, presents an H-shaped plan with a monumental façade richly decorated with classical motifs and some sculptures with the coat of arms of Barcelona, Catalonia and Spain made by a famous sculptor - Eusebi Arnau.
The whole building has an eclectic style.
