Museum of Erotica

The Museum of Erotica in Barcelona was created with the intention to demonstrate various visions and beliefs concerning erotica in different cultures. It is located in the heart of the city, on the Las Ramblas street, and offers a range of over 800 works connected with the cult of erotic pleasure in its varied forms. The works include paintings, sculptures, prints, films, and articles which are intended to provide bodily pleasures. Some of them are part of a regular collection, while others are put on public display only during occasional exhibitions. A chunk of the collections was donated by the people often associated with the world of erotica. The exhibits coming from different times and cultures depict the development of erotica from the point of view of anthropology, archaeology, literature and fine arts.
