Canaletas Fountain

The Canaletas Fountain is located at the top of Las Ramblas, near to the Plaza de Catalunya in Barcelona and is considered as one of the symbols of the city.

The Fountain originates from XIXth century. Its name comes from an ancient source in medieval Barcelona from where the water was carried to the city by small canals (canaletas in Catalan).

It is popular because of two main reasons. First of all the legend says that if you drink from the fountain, you will return to the city certainly. That is way many tourists come here to drink a little bit from the source. On the other hand it is a meeting place and where celebrates one of the two local teams, the Football Club Barcelona.
