Camp Nou ("New Field" in Catalan) is the stadium of FC Barcelona and, with the capacity of 99,354 seats, the biggest football stadium in Europe.

The need to build the stadium arose as Barcelona's previous stadium, Les Corts, grew in popularity while having very limited room for expansion. Initially, the new stadium was to be named after the club's founder, Joan Gamper, however this idea met with strong opposition from the club's president, Francesc Miró-Sans. It is believed that he desired the stadium to be named after him, just like in the case of the stadium of Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid. Ultimately, the stadium was named Estadi del FC Barcelona ("Stadium of FC Barcelona" in Catalan). However, among the people of Barcelona and the club's supporters, it soon came to be known as Camp Nou. It was not until 2001, about 50 years after the stadium's opening, that this became its official name.

Camp Nou was designed by the architect Francesc Mitjans during the club's presidency of Francesc Miró-Sans. The opening ceremony took place on 24 September 1957 and coincided with La Mercè festival, which is the Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Barcelona. In celebration of the stadium's opening, FC Barcelona played a home match against Legia Warszawa and won 4:2.

Camp Nou is situated in the Les Corts district, close to one of the main streets of the city, Avenida Diagonal. The stadium accomodates the club's headquarters and the club's museum, Museu del FC Barcelona, which is the most popular museum in Catalonia. Moreover, Camp Nou is situated in the central part of the sports complex which also include: Mini Estadi - home to the reserves of FC Barcelona and the team of Barcelona's younger players, La Masía - training facilities of the youth academy of Barcelona, and Palau Blaugrana - a multipurpose arena in which the basketball, handball, football, and roller hockey divisions of FC Barcelona compete with other teams.

On 12 January 1998, Camp Nou became the first Spanish stadium to be classified as the UEFA Elite Stadium.
